Message posted on behalf of Govia Thameslink Railway:
Passengers on Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR) services can now choose to donate their Delay Repay compensation payment to charity through a new partnership with Samaritans and Railway Children. The initiative is the result of suggestions by GTR customers.
Rail users claiming compensation online through the Delay Repay scheme - under which GTR customers across Thameslink, Gatwick Express, Southern and Great Northern are entitled to compensation if their journey is delayed by 15 minutes or longer - can elect to give their compensation to support the life changing work of Samaritans or Railway Children, instead of accepting the payment themselves.
This is a partnership that we hope will benefit some of the most vulnerable in society and encourage more rail users to make use of the Delay Repay scheme.
Every three months, GTR and the partner charities will publish the total amounts donated by GTR customers. We have chosen to work with the Samaritans and Railway Children to support their important work in mental health and with young people, two priority areas for GTR.
Please let us know if you have any questions or would like any additional information for your members or constituents.
